Challenges
The main navigation had become cluttered over time, with multiple global and business teams adding content independently and without a shared structure. The priority was rebuilding the information architecture around user needs before any visual work could begin.
The homepage needed to represent two distinct business segments with equal weight and visibility. Getting the prioritisation right required rounds of benchmarking, stakeholder input, and sessions with content creators to align on structure before moving into design.
The About Us page was shaped by two parallel goals, supporting the external Wärtsilä Story campaign while also serving the company's employer branding. Alongside the structural and content changes, brand differentiation was applied throughout to ensure each audience received a visually and tonally distinct experience without losing overall brand consistency.
